Looking back on cizynski's career at pomperaug, it's easy to see that frager was right all along.Cizynski has scored more points than any other pomperaug basketball player, boy or girl.She is a twotime allstate selection who scored her 1, 000th career point last season as a junior.A difficult matchup for most high school players, cizynski averaged a doubledouble last season with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Frager couldn't be happier that his division i program at fairfield will soon be inheriting cizynski's wealth of talent.
"I do see her being able to make an impact next year,"Frager said. "The college game is faster and more physical and it's an adjustment for anybody, but she's a smart player, she's been wellcoached and she has all the fundamentals.She'll have an opportunity to contribute right away. "
Living in southbury made it easy for frager to go watch cizynski play.Needless to say, he liked what he saw.

Cizynski will be carrying on a family legacy at fairfield, as both her parents attended the school.Her father, joe, is a former fairfield baseball player and the only player in school history to throw a nineinning nohitter.
Of course, before she packs her bags for college, cizynski has the rest of her senior season at pomperaug to look forward to.And what a season it has been so far.Pomperaug is 111 overall, 70 in the southwest conference, and figures to be a serious contender for both the conference and state titles when the postseason starts next month.
One of the biggest highlights of the panthers' season came on jan.15 when Cizynski scored 30 points in a win over Bethel to become Pomperaug's alltime leading scorer.She surpassed the previous mark of 1, 377 points set by, who finished his career with the pomperaug boys team in 1980.
"I just remember looking up at that record my freshman year and always wanting to break it,"Cizynski said. "It's big.I think it will hit me more once i see it up there, but it's definitely an exciting accomplishment for me. "
Cizynski was tied with grant's record when she stepped to the foul line in the third quarter and scored her last two points of the game to claim the record for her own.Setting the record on her home court was special, especially since she had scored her 1, 000th career point on the road last year.
"I owe it all to my teammates,"Cizynski said. "I knew they wanted to get me the ball. "
And now she has the next month or so to add to her record total.
"With katie, it goes beyond the talent,"Pomperaug coach said. "Obviously, we can see it on the court every night that she's really good.But really, it's the leadership she brings on the court and off the court in terms of rallying the kids together and making sure everyone is in the right mindset to play the game.
"She's just an allaround good person in school and out of school, and i think the kids really look up to her. "
When she gets to college, however, cizynski will be the one doing the following instead of the leading.At least, at first.
"She's just going to have to get her feet wet the first year,"Jackson said. "She's going to have a lot bigger kids guarding her.It's not going to be as easy to get the ball in the post as it has been maybe in high school. "
Before she leaves for the bright lights of division i basketball, cizynski has one ultimate goal left to accomplish one that no other pomperaug girls basketball team has ever done.
